Join us for an unforgettable experience diving or swimming with the seals in their natural environment. Our award winning trip departs Ilfracombe harbour for Lundy Island. The journey across is just over an hour long and we often encounter dolphins along the way. Once at Lundy you will spend the morning with the seals in one of the many coves and bays around the islands marine nature reserve. The seals are very friendly and are often compared to puppies and are affectionately known as sea dogs.

They are very playful and inquisitive by nature and enjoy swimming around people and tugging on fins! Once back onboard you can enjoy a hot drink and get changed after which you will have a tour of the coastline on the way to the landing jetty before a few hours ashore to explore the Island at your leisure where you can grab lunch in the Tavern or stroll the many coastal paths in search of Puffins and other wildlife that inhabits the Island. Divers can choose to go up the island at this point or stay onboard for a 2nd dive. There is often still time to go ashore after a 2nd dive for a short stroll.

Snorkelling

For the snorkelers we offer wetsuit hire and snorkel gear just add the items you need at the checkout or if you have your own please feel free to bring it along. All of our hire wetsuits and snorkels are under 2 years old and we use 5mm winter suits to keep you nice and warm which in turn gives you more time in the water to enjoy the seals. We no longer offer children’s wetsuits so if you have any children in your group it’s best to bring suits for them. Our adult suits will fit around 12 years old and upwards depending on height.

Lundy is within easy reach of Ilfracombe and takes between 60-90minutes to reach by boat. Lundy has some of the best diving in the country including over 40 dive sites made up of reefs, pinnacles, drop offs and countless wrecks. It is also a marine nature reserve, home to seals, birds and various marine life.

Suitable for even novice divers Lundy has a lot to offer from a 6m seal dive to more advanced wreck and pinacle diving in deeper water we can cater for all abilities and arrange a day to suit your group.

Our fast catamaran "Wild Frontier" was brand new for 2021 and has plenty of deck space for 12 divers and equipment, with easy access into the water through a stern door and effortless re entry with the dive lift. The boat is coded cat 2 for 60 miles and the crew all hold first aid and safety qualifications. Wild Froniter is equiped with an onboard toilet , full galley including tea and coffee facilities, large kitting up bench and has covered seating outside. We are also the only boat in Ilfracombe to be coded to carry divers and equipment up to a weight of 2.4 tonnes.

We offer full boat charter or can now take small groups and buddy pairs on our swimming with seals days where we take a mixed group of snorkelers and divers. This enables smaller groups or buddies to pay for only the spaces they require rather than charter the whole boat. For multiple date diving we can arrange for your cylinders to be filled either on Lundy or at Ilfracombe BSAC depending on where you choose to stay. See the Lundy Island web page for a choice of accomodation on the island. Local to Ilfracombe there are many hotels and guest houses on the harbour and in the surrounding area. The Britania hotel and the Ocean Backpackers being the closest to the boat and dive club respectively.

Scuba Divers

Divers need to be pre qualified as we do not offer training courses or guided dives. We can hire tanks and weight belts which you can book at the checkout or we can help you arrange hire of full dive kit from a local company. Please contact us via email if you require a full kit. If you are booking as a lone diver please note that there is no guarantee we can buddy you up so please email us first to check if we can accommodate you on your chosen date.

Dives are carried out in shallow sheltered bays often in less than double figures so open circuit with a single cylinder is more than sufficient. Divers must be fit to dive, have a valid medical and their own insurance.

We offer fishing trips from 2 hours to 10 hours! Sail aboard out large modern catamaran "Wild Frontier" for some of the best fishing in the South West. Rods bait and tackle are included in the price as is tuition for novice anglers.

1.5 Hour Mackerel Fishing Trip from Ilfracombe

Great fun for all the family! Our Mackerel Fishing Trips run from the last week in May until early September. We supply the rods and tackle and provide tuition for beginners and children. We use the best quality rigs and always run with a varied selection on board including daylights, tinsel and traditional colored feathers to give you the best chance of catching. You get to keep your catch and if time allows the crew will prepare your fish on the way in. Mackerel are great on the BBQ!

2 Hour Reef Fishing Trip from Ilfracombe

Join us on a 2 hour reef trip aboard Jay Jay. We head out from Ilfracombe to fish for species such as pollock, codling, wrasse, gurnard and bass on the many reefs and wrecks along the North Devon coast. Rods and tackle are provided or for those experienced anglers among you feel free to bring you own rods and lures. Trips run from Easter to October.

4 Hour Deep Sea Fishing Trip from Ilfracombe

From Easter until October we run our 4 hour deep sea trips. The Bristol Channel offers some great sport fishing for species such as conger eels, tope, ray, bull huss, bass and pollock. All rods, bait and tackle are included. We use fresh or frozen mackerel for bait depending on what is available. You can also arrange for specialist baits such as crab, squid and lug worm to be onboard at an extra cost. Please email for details and prices.

Our rods and reels are all under 2 years old and are regularly serviced and filled with new line to increase your chances of a specimen catch.

8 Hour Deep Sea Trip from Ilfracombe.

Join us on our 8 hour deep sea fishing trip from Ilfracombe harbour. We fish the North Devon coastlines many wrecks and reefs for species such as cod, conger, ray, bull huss, spurdogs, smooth hounds, bass, pollock, bream and trigger fish and have landed many specimen fish over the years.

Rods, bait, tackle and tuition can all be provided.

10 Hour Lundy Island trip

Leaving Ilfracombe we head west to fish the many banks, wrecks and reefs around Lundy Island targeting bass, pollock, coalfish, bull huss, tope, rays and much more. Trips last 10 hours and we have hot drinks and a WC on board as well as pleanty of covered seating. Rods, tackle, bait and tuition can be provided if required.
