Things to Look Forward to in 2021

Published on: 27/12/20

Let’s be honest, 2020 was the year we couldn’t wait to be over! The trials and tribulations of the pandemic, the on-again off-again lockdowns, and the inevitable economic impact have all felt like a big black cloud over the world. But we made it though and while it may feel hard to believe, there are things to look forward to in 2021!

At Let’s Go Out we’re all about helping you to plan fun activities so you can enjoy time with your friends and family. And while we don’t know exactly when things will go back ‘to normal’ we’re still here to give you inspiration for when they do.

So here’s a rundown of exciting things that are coming our way (hopefully sooner rather than later)!

Let’s Go Out Events

We’ve been plotting and planning our own events for a while, and as soon as we get the green light it will be all systems go! We have planned great days out that include fun activities and delicious food, such as kayaking to the pub with a pub lunch, go karting with a buffet lunch, and military survival experiences to bring out your inner Bear Grylls. There’s nothing better than getting a gang of mates together to act like you’re kids again or trying a brand-new pastime that you’ve never done before. These events will be the perfect opportunity to break from your normal routine and get out of your comfort zone and also a great way of helping to raise money for the charity we choose for our Let's Go Out Events.

The return of the Big Screen Experience

Cinemas were closed for most of 2020, with studios either postponing their blockbusters or releasing things via streaming services. But in 2021 we can look forward to finally seeing Daniel Craig’s latest (and possible last) outing as Bond in No Time to Die, the 25th film in the franchise. Elvis fans can enjoy a big-budget biopic of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, directed by Baz Luhrmann. And if you still can’t get enough of comic book adaptations, Marvel’s Black Widow is scheduled for release in May.

Summer Olympics will feature four new sports

The cancelled Summer Olympics is now due to take place in Tokyo in August 2021, with four new exciting sports making their Olympic debut: karate, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing. Baseball and softball will also be on the agenda for the first time in years. Expect plenty of great TV coverage and maybe a return to glory for TeamGB? If the sporting prowess of these athletes makes you want to try a new hobby, check out our search function on Let’s Go Out for fun activity inspiration!

Days out in the UK

A lot of people are still cautious about booking holidays abroad for 2021, but you could start planning your staycation for spring. Last summer saw a huge surge in popularity for self-catered holidays and camper van rentals, so if you missed out then, now’s your chance to get booking. There are so many fantastic parts of the UK to explore, from the rugged coastlines of Cornwall to the stunning scenery of the Lake District. Even if you’re only planning a day trip, there are so many activities to try, like windsurfing, go karting, kayaking, archery and many more. Let’s make up for all the hours we’ve spent stuck indoors in 2020!
