Madame Tussauds

This week we’re ‘waxing lyrical’ with the only place in the world where you can take a selfie with Kim Kardashian, chat with new King Charles III, and shake hands with David Attenborough- at least, all in one day! The home of famous fun, Madame Tussauds is a leading family fun attraction, where you can meet and take selfies with all your favourite celebrities in one building. Okay, their waxwork versions- but looking so real, you’ve still got a good chance of convincing your friends and family that the photo of you hugging Prince Harry is legit!

Nowadays, it’s an honour to be invited for a sitting at Madame Tussauds, but during the French Revolution, aristocrats (the celebrities of their day) hated the thought of ending up in Madam Tussauds, because it usually meant that they’d lost their heads and she was casting their ‘death mask’- lovely!

Expanding into waxworks and creating a travelling show, she eventually settled in London. Since opening its doors in 1835, the iconic and original Madame Tussauds has left visitors in awe of its glitzy array of A-list residents, providing a fascinating history of celebrity through the centuries. One of the most iconic tourist attractions in the country, it was joined in 1900 by a second museum in Blackpool, opened by Louis Tussaud, great-grandson of the original Marie.

Entertaining, educational and simply great fun visitor attractions, Madame Tussauds takes you from Marie’s grisly beginnings, through historical figures, very much up to the modern era. Continuing to sculpt the biggest- and most notorious- celebrities of the day, here is where you can come face to face with famous figures from Alfred the Great to Lizzo, and everyone in between! Tussauds know the picture’s the thing, so unlike the real celebs, it’s close-up selfies all the way, with no minders shoving you out of the way!

With multiple themed zones, you can zone in on film, TV, music, sport, celebrity and more, and you don’t need to stay in the real world, or even on the planet! Step right into the action in favourite films like Aliens, explore the jungles of King Kong’s Skull Island, go off-planet with Jedi knights and blaster-toting rebels from the Star Wars universe, or adventure alongside your favourite comic book and film heroes in the Marvel Zone. With sense-tingling 4D film spectaculars, it’ll take your hyper-real Tussauds experience to a new level of hyperspace!
