Granta Moorings, Cambridge

Published on: 09/09/23

We’re taking it laid back and classy this week (with the option to go a bit more energetic), by visiting the elegant University city of Cambridge. This wonderful evocative city comes alive as the students return, with gowns sweeping across the college quads, and bicycles thronging the cobbled streets. The coach party tours that crowd in during the summer months have rolled away, giving you the leisure and space to see the city at its university heart best.

Cambridge combines the best in a compact space; incredible architecture, the world famous Fitzwilliam museum, boutique shopping, and a wealth of bars and restaurants. A green city too, the centre is bisected by large, leafy parks and threaded through by the tranquil river Cam. As the trees turn every shade of gold, if you don’t fancy taking to two wheels, there’s one form of transport that’s a clear “university blue” winner when it comes to seeing the sights of the city it’s time to get off the streets and onto the water.
