At Let’s Go Out, we love adventuring as far and wild as possible; but why stop there when you can take it into further dimensions? When we heard about Bournemouth’s Centre VR, the biggest Virtual Reality Arena and Escape Room venue in Europe, we were keen to test out their credentials (selflessly on your behalf, of course!)

Boasting the UK’s largest and most diverse range of VR action adventures, we discovered a veritable vista of the very best equipment and top quality titles to play multiplayer or solo. Questing into incredible worlds, solving puzzles, or battling through brilliant games, with something for everyone, the whole family or group can play together.

Step Out of This Reality

With a storming 30 dedicated VR stations, multiple adventures can be run simultaneously, enabling up to 30 people to pick from a menu of 120 different adventures at the same time. Or choose to combine, in groups of 1-6, on an amazing range of group adventures. Transported into a story, a scenario, a predicament, or a perilous situation, it’s up to your team to work together to achieve the goal of your chosen adventure.

The best way to describe the experience is the closest thing you can get to actually being in a movie with your friends! The fantastic visual landscapes, unlimited range of locations and sets, and highly detailed environments and scenarios in the virtual environments ensure you feel totally immersed.

The passionate and dedicated Centre VR team are dedicated to ensuring everyone receives the best experiences, hosting children’s and adults’ parties and events as well. When you fancy a break or to compare experiences, there’s a large viewing area and coffee shop.

Pick of the Plays

With a smorgasbord of top spec single and multiplayer VR adventures, crazy golf, laser tag, group adventures, action adventures, activities, motion rides, simulations, art, excursions and educational titles, escape rooms, shooters, arcade games and more, there’s too much to put on one menu, but we’ve picked out some tasters to whet your appetite, starting with a tiny slice of the VR on offer.

Smash Point is a hugely enjoyable and addictive fun game set in a cartoon like world of mayhem. Great for large parties, young and old alike, up to 10 players can choose from a great range of cartoon characters and compete among many ingenious, and very different levels.

Jungle Quest’s floating islands, moving stone monuments and colourful wild animals create a fantastic adventure perfect for families working together. Or, working together in a different way, can you and up to four accomplices pull off a daring PayDay Bank Robbery in broad daylight?

If you want to feel an I-can’t-believe-this-isn’t-real Rush, take a dive into the world of wingsuit flying, and soar down mountainsides. Go solo and enjoy the scenery as you gently descend, or challenge yourself to reach breakneck speeds as part of an adrenaline-pumping skydiving race: all the rush, none of the danger, and up to 12 players too!

It’s time to go back in time to 1928, with Escape The Lost Pyramid. Escape and avoid awesome traps, solve ancient Egyptian puzzles in this giant pyramid. Indiana Jones style adventure with fire torches, but no snakes, promise! Then plunge into the far future with Huxley. Hurtled into 3007 AD, the world as you know it is gone, with mankind replaced by machines. Save humanity, help Huxley!

Ramping up the pressure is the eerie-sounding Propagation, quite possibly the best zombie shooting experience anywhere. Stay alive against an onslaught of zombies in an action-packed journey into the scariest situations. Definitely an 18+ and very intense, don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Do you ever wish it was Christmas all year round? You can get into the festive spirit whenever you fancy with the wonderful family Christmas Adventure, working together to save Christmas!

Something unique in multiplayer gaming, Tower Tag is the most dramatic and accurate multiplayer game of VR laser tag, where up to eight players can play together across two teams in giant futuristic arenas. Put on your headset, and special jacket that makes you feel where you have been hit, and jump from tower to tower as you aim to get opponents in your sights while avoiding their bullets. With loads of scenarios and levels, this is the ultimate VR shooter!

Stepping out of VR, but no less immersive, the centre also hosts three full-scale Escape Rooms: Ace Ventura’s Jungle Hunt, Hannibal, and The Spy Files:Case 47. Whichever you choose, you and your team have an hour to solve the fiendish clues and emerge triumphant… or be locked in forever…?

And a final mention to something that uses VR to teach safety in the real world: it may not be gaming, but we really liked Road Safety Training, a fun, exciting and safe way for children to learn about safety with Safer Kids VR. A great use of VR, made fun too- and by the time you leave Centre VR, it’s probably good to be reminded you need to keep your feet on the ground in the real world!
