We confess: we’ve become Segway converts. This no-hassle, glide-along form of transport has been about since the late 90s, but really found its feet (or wheels) in the last decade or so. Much more comfortable and stable than scooters, they combine all the benefits of e-transport with none of the hassles e-bikes are great, but you still have to pedal! And if you’ve ever run out of battery on an e-bike, you know how heavy and laborious they are to cycle manually.

Segway Heaven in Deepest Devon

It had to be Devon's longest indeed, only full forest Segway experience, courtesy of Cann Wood Segway. Situated in 600 acres of glorious woodland just outside Plymouth, they offer four awesome tours guaranteed to suit everyone, from the hesitant starter to thrill seekers who want to take it to the max (and no, we’re not saying which level we requested!)

All tours begin with full one-to-one training, to set you at ease on your machine, so whichever one you choose, you’ll enjoy it to the max.

Standard Tour:

The shortest tour, perfect for apprehensive beginners and those wanting a gentle introductory experience. Enjoy traversing mainly smooth surfaced roads through the heart of the forest for 30 minutes with your friendly, encouraging guide.

Adventure Tour:

This route is perfect for first time Segwayers who want a little more adventure! Head off for up to an hour of relaxed exploration, on mainly smooth surfaced roads in the forest, with a few hills and the opportunity to try some introductory off-roading thrown in.

Safari & Skills:

The team’s most popular tour! Start off on the trail of the Adventure Tour, then continue down to trails deeper in the forest, complete with exciting mud ruts to run! Then it’s onto the team’s specially constructed skills area for a bit of real Segway fun, getting to try out and show off your segway skills! Perfect for friends and family to have some fun together, this tour runs for up to 90 mins.

Segway Extreme Tour:

Created for customers who keep coming back for more and love Segway's, suitable for over 16s, you don’t have to have ridden Segway at Cann Woods before, but you must have been on a Segway twice before. Led by an instructor with over 15 years’ experience, your tour starts with extra tuition revealing how to get maximum performance from your machine. Following an intense training session around obstacles and different scenarios you might encounter, it’s time to head into the wild! This complete route takes it to the next level, encountering very steep hills and obstacles through the forest. Mud, thrills, challenges and extreme fun? Yes, yes, yes and YES!

If all that’s left you breathless, remember that Cann Wood Segway is set in over 600 acres of woodland. Surrounding the stunning River Plym, it’s a glorious example of a mixed forest with areas of newly planted coniferous and broad-leaved woodland. With plenty on offer for all the family, you can also walk, cycle and horse ride whilst taking in the views and wildlife of this beautiful valley.
