RHS Monteviot House Gardens
The Gardens of Monteviot lie along a dramatic slope of the Teviot Valley. Visitors will be invited to view nine gardens all differing and equally complementing the setting of Monteviot. From the top terrace, one of the finest views in Scotland over the Victorian Rose Garden and the Percy Cane 1960s inspired River Garden is the first enjoyment. Developments in recent years include a five-acre winter interest garden, resplendent in summer foliage and a further new garden entitled “The Garden of Persistent Imagination”, which features tributes in plants to Salvador Dali and Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

The garden proceeds through an oriental-style water garden featuring elegant curved wooden bridges through to the five-acre arboretum of specialist trees. Further on, another recent new garden completes the journey: the restored Dene Garden is a collection of foliage interest plants featuring gunnera, bamboos and palms.
