RHS Holker Hall & Gardens
Owned by Lucy Cavendish, the delightful gardens at Holker Hall are a product of the labours of many generations of the Cavendish family who love to share their passion for gardening with visitors of all ages. The formal gardens around the house have been skilfully planted to be both dramatic while also retaining an intimate feel.
Beautiful displays of spring bulbs start the year followed by wonderful combinations of annuals, perennials and exotics. Moving out into the wider gardens, visitors discover a magical collection of trees and shrubs that have been deftly combined for both their aesthetic and botanical interest.

The year starts with wonderful magnolias, daphnes and witch-hazels, which are then followed by majestic mature rhododendrons that reach into the sky. Interest continues throughout the spring and summer, through the collections of Styrax, Stewartia, Tilia and Eucryphia, along with many other interesting species that thrive in the mild climate of the Cartmel peninsula.
