Climbing

There is an amazing sense of achievement when you complete your first rock climb. Reaching the top and admiring the view is is an experience you'll never forget. LOPC has 4 different climbing walls with various different difficulty levels. The longest route is 12m, which starts on a slope before going vertical. This is an excellent beginner’s wall, aimed at people aged 5 years upwards. The 3 other walls are vertically upwards from the start and provides a variety of challenges to our climbers
High All Aboard

Get up close and personal with your friends or colleagues way up on our high ropes course. This is a great activity that involves trust, communication and cooperation. We have a small platform at the top of what looks like a very high telegraph pole. You need to get your whole team to the top. You'll need to cooperate with each other as there is very little space for manoeuvre. Once you've got everyone up comes the real trust test, hold on to each other and lean back
Balance Beam

A great activity for younger people and ideal for those who want to ease themselves into high ropes. There is a range of different balance beams at different heights to negotiate your way across. Our Inclined beams are at a 45 degree angle gradually gaining height as you go along them. There is also a slack line if you have the nerve to cross it! Then there are our high balance beams, a good progressive, this involves trying to cross 3 balance beams. They are set at 3 different heights
Bridge Building

Build your bridge as a team and try to get across the river without falling in (or with falling in). Instructors will set up a scenario whereby you'll need to build that bridge in order to rescue your damsel in distress, stuck out on the river. Recommended for age 12 and over, this is the ideal advancement from Raft Build, whereby you'll need to build your craft actually on the river. This activity is a brilliant team-building exercise, especially in the summer months, developing an awareness
Crate Stacking

The aim of the game is to build a crate stack as high as possible in a certain time before it collapses. The catch is, you'll need to stand on the tower as you're building it. This is a fun exercise for all the team to get involved with. Every member of the group will be constantly engaged- whilst some members of the team are attached to ropes to build the tower from the top, the rest of the group will be learning to manage the ropes to keep their team-mates safe

Fencing is a classic sport with a huge history. Wear the protective clothing, put on your mask and learn how to handle a foil and beat your opponent. This is a very exciting and physical activity which will warm you up and keep you alert. We also offer a ‘mini fencing’ option for children age 8 and under. Wear all the kit and learn all the moves, but the foils are lighter, and are made of plastic. Book a session with your family or friends
Jacob’s Ladder

You'll have to be creative as you try to assist your team in climbing our hardest obstacle on the high ropes course. This ladder spans from the ground all the way to the top of our high ropes, each gap gets bigger than the last - making it harder the higher you climb it. You will need to grab, push, pull and support your teammates as you try to climb each step. This is very physical. But if you get to the top though, you'll be rightly pleased with yourself as this is a great achievement.

A sensory challenge that requires participants to be guided blindfolded through a series of obstacles in the woods. Groups learn about sensory deprivation and have to rely on their team mates for support as they work their way around the course. Communication is essential when you can’t see what lies ahead, and this activity will enhance these skills.

If you're looking at team building, whether it's a youth football team, a group of colleagues or part of curriculum enrichment, this is the best activity. The activity is a series of challenges that require you to work as a team. After each challenge we can review how the team did what they can do better. Trebuchet Building

Based on a medieval counter weight design, the Trebuchet is a team building challenge where communication and problem solving skills are needed. Build the Trebuchet as a team, test the Trebuchet with different payloads. Evaluate the Trebuchet’s performance and make modifications to complete a number of skilled tasks. This activity is great for corporate events and for school and youth groups. We can bring this activity to your venue.
Power Fan

The activity is simple but completing it is anything but simple. You'll be attached to our winch - fan device, (the Powerfan), stood on a platform approximately 30ft high in the air. Then comes that cold sweat as you realise it's your turn to take plunge and drop down to the ground. It's up to you to take that step so you will need to be brave as you reach the end of the platform. The rush as you drop off our tower and then the relief as the system slows your fall is an amazing feeling
Orienteering

Orienteering is a really fun activity where the participants need to read a map and race others around a series of markers. We can take people through all the necessary map reading skills including: understanding the legend, orientating the map, working out what direction to take, connecting the map to the surroundings and using a compass. Plus we can teach further navigation skills if required. We have a few courses set up around our 15 acre site that challenges our group users

Abseiling provides a fantastic opportunity to try your head with heights. The adrenaline you feel as you lean back and learn to trust your equipment leaves you with a lasting memory you can hold for the rest of your life. You’ll never forget your first abseil. We have a 6.5m abseil with a sloping wall, ideal for anyone who’s a little nervous with heights, or younger children as this has an aged limit of 5 years and upwards. Our 9.5m vertical abseil is for the more adventurous participant

Rifle Shooting

Air Rifle shooting is a sport that requires, skill, patience and a steady hand to hit the target and defeat your opponents. Our qualified instructors will teach you how to load, aim and control the rifle safely. You will learn how to shoot a .177 air rifle on our purpose built outdoor shooting range. You will be taught to aim accurately at the target, a steady hand, patience and concentration are needed.

Archery is one of our most popular activities. Everybody loves the competing with their friends – finding out who’s the most skilful archer. After learning how to use the bow and going through our safety rules, we can run individual or team competitions. Score as many points as you can or play just for fun with a range of games suited to your group. We offer a range of recurve bows for different size and ages. And we can accommodate any weather with indoor and outdoor ranges
Bell Boating

Bell Boating is a brilliant, accessible, team based paddling activity that anyone can enjoy. A Bell Boat will hold either 8 adults or 10 children, they are great for playing games, going on river trips or even just introducing people to sitting in a boat and paddling it. You’ll have an instructor at the helm looking after you. This activity is a fantastic way to introduce children as young as 5 years to paddle sport, and also very suitable for groups with disabilities.

Learning to paddle a kayak can be a challenge, but once you've worked it out it opens up a whole new world - giving you the chance to paddle your own boat on the river. You can learn skills such as forwards and backwards, turning, stopping and maybe even sideways. We run kayaking parties, which are fantastic for anyone at any age. Typically we'll go for a paddle up the river, and then play paddle games including: canoe polo, tag, racing, or balancing games for those who daring enough.

We use paddle sport as the collective term for either canoeing or kayaking, so with this you're able to choose which you want to do when you arrive. We have a wide selection of boats including: traditional closed cockpit kayaks, canoes (adult and child size), sit on top kayaks and tandem kayaks. On special request we can also supply a Kata Kanu, which is a 6 person boat shaped like a catamaran. - you will need to ring us in advance if you want to do this.
Stand Up Paddleboarding

Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP), is a brilliant new sport that has just arrived at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre. The boards themselves are like large surf boards – you can lie down and use your hands, kneel on them and paddle them like a canoe or stand up and use our longer paddles designed especially for this brand new innovative sport. As you progress you will learn how to paddle in a straight line, spin around and improve your balance as you move around your board.

One of the National Trust's top 50 things to do before you're eleven and three quarters! Canoeing is one of the most popular activities we run. It's easy to see why as you take your canoe on an adventure along the River Soar right next to the centre. Canoe sessions can include a variety of different elements including: challenges, learning new skills, racing games, ball games, raft games, journeying, balance skills, or for the more adventurous you can have a go at getting wet and even a capsize.
Kata Kanuing

Fantastic boat for the family to paddle together. Or for any groups wanting something a bit more stable than a canoe. A KataKanu is a cross between Canoeing and Bell Boating. Paddle a twin hulled canoe, large enough for 6 people. This easy to paddle, very stable craft allows you to play about and have loads of fun on the river. You can either choose to go for a trip along the River Soar, play a variety of paddle games with the Instructor, get up and try your balance on the boat
Raft Building

Raft building is a great activity that has proven to be very popular over the years. The task is simple – design your raft, build it, float it and return to the riverbank. Typically your resources are barrels, ropes and wood. Once the raft is built you can test it out on the water, have a paddle and play some games. We have three types of Raft Building sessions, pick the one that suits you.

Aerial Trekking

Aerial Trek is easily our most popular activity on our high ropes course. Participants go through a journey of excitement, fear, nerves, grit and above all, the amazing feeling of achievement when you can look back and realise what you’ve accomplished. Our 2 level Aerial Trekking course certainly has a lot to offer. But one thing that can really finish the session off in style, rather than walking back down the stairs, why not take our other route and drop down the Powerfan instead.
Zip Line

Flying down our 100m zipline gives you the thrill and rush of leaving our tower dramatically. Finish off by abseiling down to the ground. Zipline allows an individual to complete a confidence-boosting challenge that relies on self-awareness and self-regulation to take that step off the edge.
Leap of Faith

If you can get it first time round we can move the trapeze further away to suit you! Don't worry if you're scared of heights, our professional instructors will look after you the whole time. You can make your own personal goals and just try to climb as high as you can
