Even though we do it about 6-20 times a minute we barely think about our breathing and the way we do so. Paying attention to our breathing and taking control of it through simple exercises has a powerful impact upon our performance, wellbeing, inner piece and clarity of mind. The secret of breathing lies in the way we breathe and how we use our breathing to relax body and mind.

This helps us greatly in everyday life, especially during the current times of crisis and the high levels of stress and anxiety we experience on a daily basis. Controlled proper breathing and deep relaxation is the ultimate essence not just for freedivers, and that is what you will learn in our practice session.

This is a “dry” class, so there is no water practice. After a short explanation of the human respiratory system we will find a quiet and comfortable place where you will lay on a mat with your eyes closed while the instructor is gently guiding you on how to gently breathe with your abdomen instead of your chest, how to find a relaxing breathing pattern.

You will learn how to use this kind of breathing to achieve mental and physical relaxation, and we will complete the session by trying some gentle breath-holding exercises.

This is the ultimate paddleboarding tour!! We will take you to some of the most stunning caves on this planet with crystal clear waters. The tour takes 2 hours and includes all equipment.

Course Itinerary

We will start at around 9 am by learning to breathe correctly for freediving, how to use your breathing to relax and you will try a dry breath-hold. We follow with a short theory session to talk about the most important safety-related issues associated with freediving. In the open water we will practice descending on a line, while working on equalisation, streamlining and relaxation.

This course is a fully customized course and a great option if you want to learn more as a beginner, already started freediving or spearfishing on your own but never did a proper course and are now struggling with the main basic techniques.

We aim at improving your level so that you will be able to enjoy your spearfishing or recreational freediving activities.

The course includes:

• 1 breathing and relaxation session
• 1 dry breath hold session
• 1 Theory session
• 2 Water sessions

The course duration is 7-8 hours
 and includes equipment, room, pool or quarry and boat hire.

Course Itinerary

We will start at around 9 am by learning to breathe correctly for freediving, how to use your breathing to relax and you will try a dry breath-hold. We follow with a short theory session to talk about the most important safety-related issues associated with freediving.

We will follow with the first confined / open water session lasting about 60-90 minutes, then have a lunch break before some theory and then follow with the second confined / open water session. In the open water we will practice descending on a line, while working on equalization, streamlining and relaxation.

You can choose to include an exam at the end to get the pool freediving certification for an additional £35. Please let us know if you are considering this at the time of booking.

Improve your skills and techniques

During our Freediving Training sessions our experienced instructors will provide you with the set up of buoys and ropes at a suitable depth.

They will be coaching you, giving you guidance such as feedback on technique as well as providing your safety, and they will evaluate your abilities and adjust the training to suit your individual level.

Most beginner surfers and open water swimmers will have experienced currents but not many know how to spot them.

In this course you will learn the tools to analyse any beach and surf zone and develop a systematic approach to see patterns in a chaotic environment and understand how to avoid or use currents to your advantage as well as safely and calmly get out of them again.

If you are surfing / swimming in cold water, do you know about the cold water shock or the effects of the afterdrop? In this course we will raise your ocean awareness, analyse your beach and ocean area and help you to learn everything you need to know so you can go into the water with confidence.

Minimum group size is two and Minimum age is 12 ( we can take children younger than 12 if at least one supervising adult joins the session).

This tour is suitable for complete beginners who are confident in the water. Land access might involve a little scramble over rocks along a stunning cliff path.

Increase your breath-hold

This online course teaches beginner to advanced individuals how to maximise your breath-hold. You will learn advanced breath-hold techniques specifically adapted to the high-stress, fast-paced and heavy-impact environment of surfing.

You will be able to physically and mentally prepare yourself to handle, and not fight, stressful surf situations and how to remain calm in challenging oxygen-deprived wave hold-downs and chaotic surf environments.

We also look at efficient underwater movement and best breathing techniques upon surfacing to avoid blackout. Also covered in this course are major safety skills such as rescue response techniques.

This course is for anyone who wants to hold their breath for longer and remain calm when the sets get bigger and you find yourself caught inside with nowhere to go. We will help you to overcome your fear of being held under water, increase your competence and awareness so you can be more confident in yourself and become a more skilled water person. Even non-surfers can greatly benefit from this course by using the specific breathing and training techniques and mental focus to remain calm.
