Discover Edinburgh's rich pagan past through folklore and ancient stories, the turbulent history of witchcraft in the city and Scotland, and it's paranormal present- all from me, a practicing pagan dedicated to making this the most authentic tour of its kind in Edinburgh.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant cultural worlds of Leith and Shore, two of Edinburgh’s most famous neighborhoods while you listen to to Paul’s own story detailing his life growing up and living in Leith. Learn about the history of the “Trainspotting Generation,” the young people who were affected by the area’s pervasive heroin addiction issue through Paul’s passionate explanation of literature and films surrounding the topic.

Your adventure will begin at the Scottish Merchant Navy Memorial and progress as Paul brings alive the stories of Leith’s most famous characters, guiding you through your truly unique experience of some of Edinburgh’s most historic and colorful areas.

Sonny offers you a tour Edinburgh, taking you along the streets that he knows and following the stories of famous crimes, hangings, and jail time!

Tour Highlights

Begin your adventure at Maggie Dickson's pub and hear the incredible story of how Maggie Dickson survived a public execution in the early 1700s. Then, make your way to Grassmarket Community Project, a social enterprise, and Greyfriar's Cemetery, where you'll learn about the Covenanters and the first concentration camp in history. Hear stories about Deacon Brody, the character that inspired Jekyll and Hyde, before the making your final stop at Street Work.

You will also learn about the first body snatchers of Edinburgh (women) and the most successful author and Scriptwriter of the UK (also a woman). You will finish the tour at the bottom of the royal mile, hearing more stories of social enterprises that support women nowadays.

This Edinburgh walking tour covers the most famous street in the city. Even though you will start at the Grassmarket you will go down the Royal Mile for an exploration of the history of this street and where it gets its famous name, but also of all modern day organisations that call it home today.

This tour can be conducted by several of our guides at Invisible (Edinburgh) so a specific person is not guaranteed.

The tour may run an extra five or ten minutes due to crowds or traffic.
