Adventure Carrick is a branching arm of the charity Adventure Centre for Education (ACE) based in Girvan, situated on the Firth of Clyde, South Ayrshire, south west Scotland.
Adventure Carrick operates all year round and offers a wide variety of adventure activities to individuals, families and groups who may reside near or be planning a visit to the beautiful South West of Scotland.

Adventure Carrick are committed to providing courses and activities that not only give participants access to the outdoors but also allow them to gain a greater understanding of the environment around them.
With this in mind we created our Bushcraft course which provides essential survival skills and knowledge in a fun way and appropriate manner according to the age and abilities of the participants.
You will learn to understand how very dependent we are on our environment and the balance of its ecology through various challenges and practical activities which will help you get to grips with the basics of bushcraft.
This will also involve essential fire skills such as finding tinder and kindling, learning about the fire triangle and how to start a fire from a spark.
Later we will look at different kinds of shelter building, methods of finding food and water, identifying plants and animals, various ways of cooking over our fire and throughout we will learn how to stay safe.
Many consider that bushcraft courses are an essential part of learning more about our environment and moreover they are great fun for all.
This is a great activity to combine with archery for a full day out with family or friends.

Go Wild! Become a Woodland Warrior
Woodland warriors is fun, action packed session with Adventure Carrick instructors. Activity starts with an Archery lesson and competitions before heading on a quest to survive in the woods by building shelters, learning about fire and participating in outdoor play.

Axe Throwing is a fun and exhilarating target sport activity that's increasingly popular across the UK. Our qualified instructor will teach you how to properly throw a range of different axes as well as compete in a series of fun target games.

We arrange walking day trips throughout the Galloway Hills, peaks of Arran and Southern Uplands. This is a great way to spend a holiday and for families to spend some quality time together whilst enjoying the great outdoors. The landscapes are breathtakingly beautiful and the experience will stay with you for a lifetime.
A day out with a mountain leader is a great way to sharpen up navigation skills, route planning and awareness of local flora and fauna, history and weather interpretation. We can also tailor the day to include sessions on security on steep ground and river crossing.

Coasteering Low Water

Coasteering is the perfect way to explore and enjoy the Scottish coastline.
Coasteering Low Water – Traversing, scrambling and low jumps, great for a chilled out session!
This session is run during low water so will include lots of traversing, scrambling and short swims along the coastline. There may be the opportunities for small jumps. This is a great sessions for families and less confident swimmers. Suitable for aged 8 years +. If you are not sure which session is right for you please get in touch.
Three hour sessions run from 9.30-12.30pm and 1.30-4.30pm.

Come and join us as we follow different parts of the shore both in and out of the sea, we jump from cliffs into sea below, we climb rocks to get into hidden coves, explore the depths of sea caves, traverse ledges and occasionally even come face to face with a seal.
Our guides are all trained and experienced and armed with their knowledge of the area, the tides and the best things to look for. We also accommodate younger age groups with extreme rockpooling which involves some coasteering and finding out what the tide has left behind. Something of a wildlife adventure trail in the sea!

Intro to stand up paddle boarding sessions are aimed at beginners with no experience or limited experience, looking to develop and learn more skills. We have amazing venues in stunning locations suitable for all abilities. The Clyde coastline and the views over the Ailsa Craig and Arran provide a spectacular backdrop in which to enjoy this great activity.
Please be aware that if a child under the age of 16 years is booked onto the session a responsible adult will need to be on the shore/harbour for duration of the session. This is not the case if the responsible adult is booked onto to the session with the child.

Are you looking for a giant stand up paddle board (SUP) that you can ride together with your friends or family? Then this activity is for you! Ideal for families, groups of friends, team building days and birthday parties.
You will be guided by one of instructors who will be on the board with you to teach you the basics. No experience necessary, just come along and have fun!
Please be aware that the maximum number of people on a board/session is six. This must be made up of a minimum of two adults. This activity is suitable for children over five. When you book the activity you are booking a full session for 2-6 people.

Our location in Ayrshire, southwest Scotland, enables us to go canoeing in some of the most beautiful areas you could imagine and it’s exciting too! Canoeing can be enjoyed by everyone, and we cater for all ages and abilities, from organising training days for beginners through to advanced groups for the more experienced.
Our canoe explorer sessions are suitable for those who have mastered the basics of paddling or have dabbled in the activity before but would prefer to have a guide or instructor with them to support their day. The explorer session is designed as a journey based activity on flat water within sheltered areas or a journey on a river. We have several venues in mind which allows our instructors to continue to teach the basic skills of paddling on flat water before embarking on a journey by open canoe.
Two people can paddle a canoe and there is space for smaller children in the centre of the boat making it a great activity for couples, groups and family’s.

Adventure Carrick is perfectly located to explore some of South West Scotland’s finest coastlines and inland lochs.
Our location in Ayrshire, southwest Scotland, enables us to go kayaking in some of the most beautiful areas you could imagine and it’s exciting too!
We are close to the River Doon (a grade 2 river) and the Ness Glen River (a grade 3 river) which run all year round and we regularly ride the white water at the Water of Minnoch and the River Cree.
We also enjoy sea kayaking locally and frequently paddle up the mouth of the Clyde visiting historic sites such as Sawney Bean’s Cave and the Culzean Castle coast.
Kayaking can be enjoyed by everyone, and we cater for all ages and abilities, from organizing training for beginners through to advanced groups for experienced thrill seekers.
We also have a variety of boats for the different types of journeys you may wish to undertake and will provide you with all the equipment you will need to safely plan your journey and get out on the water.

Gorge Walking at Glentrool

Our gorge walks vary from 2km to 10km and involve walking in the river, scrambling over rocks and other obstacles, sliding down waterslides cut into the rock by the river itself, jumping off high rocks into clear pools.
It’s a total rush and if you’re never tried it then you’re missing out!
