Two things that British people love the most is tea and Harry Potter. Tea can be bought easily from any shop across the country, but venturing into the magical wonders of the nation's favourite movie franchise can be a little more difficult. Of course, Harry Potter movie marathons, university Quidditch tournaments, and Hogwarts-inspired drinking games are great, but many fans want a more immersive experience of the wizarding world of Harry Potter. For the Potterheads who want to take their imagination a little further, here are the best Potter-inspired UK trips.

Stay at Godric’s Hollow

Why not journey back to where it all began by visiting the home of Harry’s parents in Suffolk? De Vere House was chosen as the iconic Godric's Hollow, the place where young Harry became the boy who lived. Potter fans will recognise Godric’s hollow from the iconic night in which Harry’s mother was mercilessly killed by Lord Voldermort. Now the house is Death Eater free and runs as a bed and breakfast.

You could find yourself waking up in the room that young Harry slept as a child or wandering through the streets in which James and Lily danced before their tragic death. De Vere House offers five-star catering services and is located at the heart of the beautiful Suffolk countryside. During your stay, there is much to explore in the local area including local tea rooms, restaurants, and boutique shops. A trip to Godric’s Hollow could make for the perfect weekend escape.

Take a ride on the Hogwarts Express

Every Potterhead has dreamed of walking through platform 9 ¾ at Kings Cross station and taking the magnificent Hogwarts Express through the valleys to Hogwarts itself. Well, if you fancy taking a journey to Scotland, you might be able to do just that!

The Hogwarts Express is a train that runs for 84 miles through the glorious Scottish countryside. For the full movie experience make sure to book seats in the Harry Potter-themed carriage which offers fans a train experience like no other!

The Hogwarts Express is said to be one of the greatest railway journeys in the world! Visitors board the luxurious steam train at Fort William and journey through several Scottish Lochs before reaching Mallaig, which is near Ben Nevis. During your journey, you will pass over the tremendous Glenfinnan viaduct, which was used as the bridge to Hogwarts in the movies. You will also stop near Glen Coe which was the location of Hagrid’s hut and the entrance to Hogwarts castle. A ride aboard the Hogwarts Express will feel like you have stepped straight into a movie.

Discover the Making of Harry Potter

If you have ever been interested in the magic behind the screens of Harry Potter, you must see the Warner Brothers Studio Tour ‘The Making of Harry Potter’. This is a tour like no other that gives you full access to the creation of the nation's favourite films. During the tour, guests are invited to delight in original sets, props, and costumes. It will really feel like you are part of the film!

One of the best sets to visit on the tour is the Great Hall. Here, you will be able to walk in the steps of your favourite characters and relive some of the film's most iconic scenes. You can also explore the Forbidden Forest, Diagon Alley, and Platform 9 ¾.

For those tech wizards out there, the Warner Brothers Tour lets you delve into the creation of many of the magical props and scenes that were used in the films. Ever wondered how Harry managed to disappear under his cloak of invisibility?

The Making of Harry Potter tour will show you how! You will also be able to see the real-life Whomping Willow (just make sure that you don’t park your car too near!) along with many special effects props that were used in the films.

The Gryffindor Dorm Room

If you venture up into the Yorkshire moors, you will be able to find the hidden gem that is the North Shire. The Shire is a magical accommodation, designed to replicate some of the most wellknown wizarding scenes from the nation's favourite books and films. One room in particular, the dorm room, has been designed to imitate the famous Gryffindor common room which became Harry’s home away from home during his time at Hogwarts.

This real-life Hogwarts dorm room hosts 6 four-poster beds- making it the perfect place for a family trip or an adventure with your friends. You will also find decedent stained glass windows, gold plated sinks and mirrors and large cosy armchairs- much like those used by the members of Gryffindor house. If you have ever dreamed of waking up at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, this is the place for you!
