Three Sisters Circuit

The Three Sisters Circuit in Wigan is a legendary outdoor race track – it’s known as one of the most challenging circuits in the North West!

Not only is it fully licensed by Motorsport UK and the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU), it was one of just five tracks to be chosen to host McLaren Mercedes’ ‘Champions of the Future’ season in 2006. One of the class champions that year was a certain Lewis Hamilton!

Circuit History

The Three Sisters takes its name from the three massive and unsightly spoil heaps that were left over from the mining industry. In the 70s, these eyesores were transformed into the Three Sisters Local Nature Reserve, which boasts 44-hectares of parks, wetlands and woodlands, with the race circuit nearby.

Today, visitors to the race circuit can enjoy not just Go Karting but a whole range of motorsports including Drifting, Supermoto, Mini-moto, ACU Motorbike Racing, Car Rallies and Track Days. The track welcomes karters of all ages as well as hen and stag dos and corporate events. They even offer ‘Bambino Lessons’ for kids aged between 6 and 7 to get started learning the basics.

Family Festival Day – Bank Holiday Monday 6th May

If you’re in the North West and want a fabulous family day out this Bank Holiday Monday, you should head to the Three Sisters Circuit. They’re hosting a Family Festival Day which is a must for any motorsports fan, with drifting demonstrations and iconic movie and classic American muscle cars on show from Car Chase Heroes.

The day starts at 10am and finishes at 5pm, so plenty of time for the kids to explore the children’s activity area with a bouncy castle, climbing wall and activity stations. There’s also a chance for adults to have a go on the legendary karting circuit – but make sure you book to avoid disappointment!

And that’s not all – there will also be demonstrations throughout the day of loads of different motosports, including rally cars, single-seater cars, and a bike display by Preston & District Motorcycle Club. Something for every motorsports fan!

Entry for the day is just £5 for adults and it’s totally free for children under 16.

What other exciting events are happening?

If you can’t make the Family Festival Day, why not attend one of their Track Attack Day events? If you’ve got a car you’ve always wanted to ‘open up’ and test at speed, you can bring it along to drive around the 1.5km outdoor circuit. All you need is a road legal car (with a MOT), a valid driving license, and a helmet (you can hire one on the day).

How about getting a group of mates together and see who’s best at the Sprint or Endurance karting? It’s great fun at the Three Sisters Circuit and they can arrange extra activities like A.I.M Laser Combat, archery and clay pigeon shooting to really make your day complete, along with various catering options.
