Things to Look Forward to When Lockdown Is Over

Published on: 26/04/20

How’s your lockdown going? The latest updates from the government suggest that restrictions could be lifted in a matter of weeks, with the aim of getting the economy back on track as soon as possible. While it’s anyone’s guess how long we’ll actually have to carry on with social distancing, it seems there is a chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

With that in mind, we think it’s a good time to start looking forward to the activities and events that we’ll be able to do in the summer. There’s nothing like having something planned in the calendar to keep your spirits up when the cabin fever sets in! Here’s some ideas for things to look forward to when lockdown is over:

Make the most of the UK’s beauty spots

At the moment non-essential travel is not allowed, but when the lockdown is lifted, we’ll be free to pack a picnic and head of to one of the many beauty spots in the UK. There are so many gorgeous parks and nature reserves to enjoy, from playing on an inflatable obstacle course at Aqua Park, Rutland, to exploring Rutland Water, or seal spotting at Donna Nook in Lincolnshire

UK Beaches

There are also countless stretches of sandy beaches – if the weather is warm all you need is a towel and some SPF! If it’s feeling chillier, hire a wetsuit and try your hand at surfing. Here are just a few examples of some great British beaches.

  • Watergate Bay, Newquay
  • Saunton Sands, North Devon
  • West Wittering, Sussex
  • Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk

Turn a couch potato into a thrill seeker

Let’s face it, for weeks most of us have succumbed to the comfort of the couch and a boxset on TV. We all have good intentions to stay active, but after a hard day of home schooling or working from home, exercise doesn’t seem too appealing! When we are finally allowed out again, we’ll be desperate to blow away those cobwebs and try something different. Get the adrenalin pumping with off-road adventures at Avalanche Adventure, let loose at Bounce Indoor trampoline park or enjoy Europe’s largest zipping zone at Zip World, Slate Caverns, Snowdonia, Zip World Fforest, Conwy & Zip World Penrhyn Quarry, Gywnedd

Get your friends together for a new adventure

While we’ve all been staying in touch via video calls and constant messages, nothing can compare with seeing your friends and families face to face. We’re looking forward to getting a gang of friends together to try something new, whether that’s learning a new skill like archery or testing our brain power with one of escape rooms at Escape Live at one of the below locations;

How about trying out a new water sports at Big Crazy in Chepstow like Flyboarding, Kayaking, Windsurfing or Stand Up Paddleboarding, you can also hire a wetsuit from only £5. The perfect antidote to weeks shut up indoors!

But until then…

Support a small business and buy your experience vouchers now

In this strange period of limbo we find ourselves in, a lot of small businesses are struggling to stay afloat. This is especially true of activity centres, outdoor activities and adventure parks. Until we know for sure when the lockdown will be lifted, we can support them by purchasing gift vouchers for experiences to redeem in the summer. This will help keep them going and make sure they will still be there when we are all set free!
