London Guided Walks

Published on: 05/08/21

Whenever I visit a new city, I try and fit in a guided walk. Whether a group walk with a leader, or a self-guided walk following a planned route, guided walks give you so much more than simply getting from A to B. They open up a new dimension into the history, development and feel of a place, and of course the legends, mythology and characters who have shaped and inhabited it over the years.

After a few years, I realised I should probably try out a guided walk in my home city, and to my shame, it opened my eyes to a wealth of treasures and history I was totally ignorant of! In everyday life, how rarely we lift our eyes above the pavements or shopfronts. Look higher and you will see stunning and curious architecture, windows and stained glass, altered and botched buildings, statuary and blue plaques. Add in stories, folklore and historical facts from a qualified and enthusiastic guide, and you have a great city experience that stays with you.
