Leicester Tigers Stadium Tours

Published on: 06/03/20

Wherever you live in the UK, if you’re a fan of rugby then you must be a fan of Leicester Tigers. Established for over a hundred years, the club has won 20 major titles and were European Champions twice, as well as winning a record-breaking 10 English Championships.

Now supporters of the club and fans of rugby in general can get an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience with stadium tours at Welford Road. So what can you expect during a tour of the tigers’ den?

Access All Areas

The tour takes you on a real access-all-areas journey around the iconic stadium, even letting you into the changing rooms (when they’re not occupied, obviously!) to see how the players mentally and physically prepare themselves for a big match.

Starting at 11am, the tour takes over an hour, giving you loads of time to take in all the sights of the stadium and walk in the footsteps of legendary players like Dusty Hare (who retired in 1989 but still holds the world record for points scored in a rugby career).

Accompanied by an expert Tigers Tour Guide, you’ll be shown around all stands and areas and you can even have a nose in the VIP areas such as the Honours and Directors lounges and hospitality boxes. The tour also delves into the history of the Leicester Tigers and their ups and downs over the years. If you’re lucky you might even get a chance to try lifting one of the heavy European cups on display in the Tigers trophy cabinet!

Tickets and Discounts

Standard tickets for the stadium tours are priced at £12 for adults and £8 for juniors, but season ticket holders can get a discounted rate of £8 for adults and £4 for juniors. Each tour is limited to a maximum of 30 guests, so you don’t need to worry about being herded around in a huge group! You also get hot drinks and refreshments in the Final Whistle bar as part of the ticket price. Leicester Tigers put on special evening tours for occasions like Father’s Day, so keep your eye on their news page for details

The Leicester Tigers Foundation

All the stadium tours are organised by, and in support of, the Leicester Tigers Foundation, a charity committed to inspiring a positive future through sports and rugby. The foundation is very much at the heart of their local community in Leicester, with programmes designed to get more kids into sport whatever their abilities. The charity is growing every year and money raised through activities like the stadium tours help them to help thousands of groups and individuals. They’re also supported by patrons, volunteers, sponsorship and fundraising.

If you’re planning a visit to the Leicester Tigers stadium for a tour this Easter break, be quick as tickets sell fast! It’s also a great idea for a Father’s Day gift - or Mother’s Day if she’s into Rugby!
