I hope you will find pleasure in visiting the 14th century Manor House and its Gardens. For more than 20 years, my wife Isobel and I have continued to care for the House, Garden and its contents, assisted by a small team of dedicated staff.
The House, once the property of King Henry VIII, was left to his son King Edward VI and granted to my forebear Sir William Sidney in 1552. The Sidney family have been in continuous occupation for more than 460 years since

The Toy Museum was opened on 1st July 1970 by William Sidney, 1st Viscount De L’Isle. Since then, those who have visited have been delighted by the wonderful collection of toys on display from bygone eras.
The museum was created out of an old carpenters’ workshop and is part of a range of ‘Gothic’ stables of 1836, built by the 1st Viscount’s great-great grandfather. Many of the toys are from the collection of Yootha Rose, stage designer, artist and royal toymaker
